About me

Discover Ubud, Bali: Things to do in Ubud and around

My name is Iulia and I’m passionate about travelling and everything beautiful.

I want to help you travel longer for less, see things and places you’ve never thought possible on a tiny budget.

What’s the goal of JuliaSomething.com?

My goal is to tell the stories of my experiences and hopefully inspire people to travel and experience as much as they possibly can.

My blog was born out of the desire to share and inspire because it is was I needed to know and hear as I was growing up and I never had this resource. So now, I created it, as an inspiration and resource tool for all those walking into the same situations as I once was.

Sarcasm can be included.

Answering- What's your favourite place you've ever travelled to?
I love postcards 🙂

Why do I travel?

I’m from Bucharest, Romania, and I thought the world is a small place as I grew up. But It turns out it’s not.

I travel because…

I had no idea who I was until I experienced myself through different people, and then I realised how we are all the same.

Travelling made me a storyteller and taught me how to connect with people.

Nowadays, the online world (digital reality – I call it) seems to be a big part of our lives, and it’s hijacking our attention away from the meaningful moments that I believe should define us.

And because the people I meet in my travels shape my experience and can influence my life. (If it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.

Volunteering changed my life in a way I could have never predicted. And I cannot stop talking about it, praising it as the best decision ever.)

All travel tips I write about are my own, and they might not be valid for everyone, so please take the ones which apply to you and try to adapt the rest.

I aim to inspire and motivate my readers to travel as much and as far as possible because travelling is the most important tool for self-discovery and personal growth.

By exploring different places and cultures, we have the opportunity to broaden our horizons, challenge our perspectives, and discover new aspects of ourselves. Through travel, we can let go of our comfort zones and embrace new experiences that push us to grow and evolve.

It is through these journeys that we truly understand the richness and diversity of the world we live in. So, I invite you to embark on this incredible adventure of self-discovery and let travel be your guide to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Of course, we are all interested in travelling, but I want to go further than the common cliche of just ticking destinations off the map.

But I also believe we are all different and that’s ok

We are all unique and have different needs, which nobody knows (about which we aren’t always aware).

And that’s why each place and destination is or can be special in a way for some, while for others is just another place.

I’m talking about that kind of understanding and personal observation. Those things we call little but are actually huge. The way we adapt to new situations, and the willingness to exit our own comfort zone and get into the unknown.

That’s why it’s so hard to recommend to you my favourite travel place.

My challenges as a traveller, woman and a human

I used to travel alone. Sometimes, dealing with everything by yourself can be exhausting. But there are ways around all obstacles, and being sociable helps a lot.

No matter what we say, in the end, humans are social beings.

And that means we need to communicate, talk, share.

I believe a happy life is defined by human interaction and the quality of our relationships. That’s something I still need to work on, and that is why I try to share as much as I can with you.

I know it’s not easy. I know sometimes this requires sacrifice. But I also know it to be the best tool we all can use for personal growth and self-development. Because in the end, it’s all about the things you like and want to do with your time. What to do that, it’s important to put yourself out there and experience more than you are used to. So, why not enjoy the journey and get inspired by others’ journeys into this crazy and adventurous world?!
