Greece is like heaven for vegans. And if you think about the islands and the beaches, it just might be the heaven we are all looking for. The traditional Greek food is tasty and lots of it is vegan anyway. But I am a vegan restaurant hunter, and I love to experience all kind of different vegan dishes, so I tried out 5 vegan restaurants in Athens.
To my surprise, I found more than a few vegan restaurants in Athens scattered all around the city. Different setups, different looks, and different neighbourhoods. From the famous vegan burger to the vegan alternative of the traditional souvlaki, the vegan restaurants in Athens are a complete delight. My only regret is that I haven’t tried them all. I must admit, I ate in the same restaurant 3 times. And also cooked some meals by myself.
From a caring vegan to a vegan reader, here are 5 tested vegan restaurants in Athens:
Vegan Nation
Address: Ermou 86, Athina 105 54
This is the first place I visited in Athens. Because I am always hungry when I get someplace. The place is small, and I missed it at first since I was completely lost in the city. Although I had Google maps in front of my eyes.
The place is small, and a bit covered. The inside is small, maybe could sit 6 people. It was warm and they also have 3 small tables outside. I would describe this place as a perfect and cheap vegan fast food. The staff is super friendly, they speak very good English and the food is super tasty. This is the place I ate 3 times in 6 days.

Mama Tierra
Address: Greece, Akadimias 84, Athina 106 78
When you combine vegan fast food with a passion for international cuisine, you get this place. It looks like a small dinner, with an open kitchen and nice, smiley staff. The menu is impressive and you can choose from vegan soups, burgers, Indian, Lebanese, Greek and Mexican inspiration.

Lime Bistro
Address: Dekeleon 23, Athina 118 54
Whenever I imagine a fancy vegan restaurant, it gets closer to what this place looks like. The service is nice, the options are more than a few and everything looked good. Too bad I couldn’t eat more than one dish. But that’s why I like it when I am our trying food and I am not alone, I can try my friend’s food as well.

Peas Vegan & Raw Food
Address: Falirou 40, Athina 117 42
This place is perfect for a quick stop, on your way to anywhere. They have some chairs inside and 2 tables and 3 chairs outside. It looks fast food, but they make everything in front of you and it all looks really good. The menu is full of mouth-watering dishes like salads, burgers, wraps, soups and desserts. Too bad I’ve discovered this place on my way to the airport.
It is located in an area which is frequented by locals, and the prices are slightly lower than in other places. Like anywhere else, the staff was super friendly.

Noodle Bar Σύνταγμα
Address: Apollonos 11, Athina 105 57
I love noodles. From time to time, I even cook noodles at home. This small Thai restaurant is close to the Acropolis, in Plaka neighbourhood, and it is not entire vegan, but they do have vegan and vegetarian options. Also, you can ask them to take out certain ingredients. So that worked perfectly for me.

All of the above-mentioned restaurants are close to the Athens centre, have very friendly staff and offer free tap water. In the end, it’s a matter of taste and cravings. So enjoy Athens, and don’t worry too much about food. No matter where you are, there will be a vegan restaurant nearby, where you will be amazed by interesting flavours.
